There once was a cat named Whisper
With eyes the color of pewter
Mischievous her smile
Spinning round woodpile
Playing with grandma’s new dentures

This is my 1st attempt at writing a Limerick!
As I surf among favorite and new blogs, I make note of forms of poetry which intrigue me, and I want to try “my hand” at creating … one day.
Some forms I immediately try … other forms, although they intrigue me, and I want to try them, I avoid even attempting the form. Yet, I keep them on the list because I still want to try … One Day!!
I admire those who have the gift and knack for quick witty writing, i.e. limericks. You may have surmised … this is a form I have been avoiding.
Determined to address my unreasonable fear … I decided to make at least an attempt!! (I mean … really, what is it going to do to me? – LOL)
Although it is not my particular style of writing or fits my creative personality, I can say:
- I tackled it and
- I can scratch it off my list of “forms to try!”
Whew!! LOL … next

Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Well done …
This is delightful and for a first time, I think you did very well.
Freaky photo! This one surprised me and made me laugh out loud!
Ha-ha-ha, great fun! Well done.
Hahaha … this image is so funny … and … it goes
so well with this limerick. I think that limericks can
be so playful. Fun ….!!!!
Becaa, you overly-modest poetess, you! This limerick is such a delight with those dentures and rolling eyes beside it! This is a HUGE success! (no arguing with your elders,Becca!)
granbee — you are DEFINITELY great for my spirit … hence, one of your talents/gifts the LORD has bestowed upon you … encourager, cheerleader, beacon of light for others!! THANK YOU!! With many blessings … xoxo
Funny and cute, i needed that laugh. Thanks
I’m just past my first attempt at a limerick…I don’t have the knack, but want to learn. Therefore, I can only tell you: Yours is delightful. Love it.
Looks good to me ! Congratulations !
Peace,
Siggi in Downeast Maine
Oh – and that cat? That thing is a little spooky! And I love your limerick!
A blogger, the writer named Becca,
was drawn to her writing like Mecca.
She poemed all the time,
but when short of a rhyme
she’d just grin big and say, “What the hecka?”
LOL
Thank you, this is great!! Wish limericks came to me so easily and quickly!!
Limericks always have come to me easily. I don’t usually work at them, but I often leave them as comments in blogs.
I think my dad had something to do with developing my “talent” – he loved puns, and we always were playing word games and making rhymes.
