    Oooh, I love those flowers!

  4. dani says:

i’ve never seen a field of poppies {or any other flower} in real life… thank you for sharing the photograph and your words, my friend! ♥♥♥

  5. phylor says:

PS: I can recite most of “In Flanders Fields” written by a Canadian officer during WW1. Don’t think he made it back home.

  6. phylor says:

To me, poppies are synonymous with memory, hono(u)ring, remembrance day, and loss. I always wear a poppy on Nov. 11th. (And now wear a blue flower on Memorial Day that represents the Korean War)

Red poppies remind me of when I was young. My dad always had a red poppy on his visor (given out by the Vets). The next year he would add another! So I grew up with red poppies symbolizing the service of our military.

The poppies are so vibrant in person — yet I can only imagine seeing them “in Flanders Fields”!

  7. Becca, these are so beautiful. I remember a field of them in Europe, so red, red, red. And I love your header dragonfly image. Is that your artwork?

    • becca givens says:

Thank you, Sara for visiting and leaving a note. No, the dragonfly artwork is not mine — a friend of mine, who set up the blog for me, found it. I’ve looked for it ever since and I cannot seem to locate it! :-(

My first visit to Wildseed Farms is the first time I actually saw fields of poppies ~~ I so enjoy looking at them. One year I purchased some seeds for my garden, and the following year had a mini-field of them.

Again … Thank you for stopping by ~~
