This unusually shaped oak tree stands on the right-hand side of the front yard (from the street). I wish I could have taken it from the front porch.
For a view of the house, see Sunday Trees – 43

This tree sure does have a lot of texture. It looks like
it’s been through a great many things. Interesting …!!!!
While I still haven’t quite gotten the hang of this Google + thingy…I popped in to look at your posts and, well I love trees, their shapes and stories. My last two ‘stones’ were about the maple in my back yard…Sept 17 & 18. at my wordpress site.
Have a great day… cheers.
Don’t feel alone there, Jules … I don’t understand it either!!!
Loved this picture, when I was a child I would walk past an old oak which had a similar looking bulge.. We called it the Elephant Tree, because it looked to be like the face and trunk of an elephant. .. Now from a distance if you turn your head at an angle.. Yours looks like a Hippopotamus Lol…..
Hi Becca, nice to be back, after a relaxing holiday… wishing you well. ~Sue xx
That’s so odd that it’s grow like that. crazy good tree.
These are wonderful…I can see why you would want another view of them from the front. I would suggest … probably I have many times before…if you ever go back, find out who lives in the house…? city hall ? …. and ask if you can meet them and photograph the house and yard.
That would make a wonderful book of photo memories for you.
I’ve not been refused when I’ve asked to come into a yard and photograph…yet, anyway ! I have only had positive experiences asking.
Thanks for sharing…so fascinating because they are something I’ve never seen before.
Peace,
Siggi in Downeast Maine
That is a great idea, Siggi. When we stopped in August, there wasn’t a car in the driveway. Another aunt lived next door; earlier we could always get better looks; but alas she has passed as well.
I will check the next time I go through the area. Thanks for the suggestion. xo
