Short, but so beautiful Becca! I’ve been stuck indoors for a bit, because of a chest infection and on reading your haiku the Autumn smells, and colors of the leaves and just the magic of the season bloomed in my mind like a rose opening up to enjoy the beauty of the day. I could actually feel the slight chill in the air and against my face. Loved it! Thank you for sharing with us and for bringing this wonderful Fall day inside for me to enjoy.

Today
my autumn leaves
are falling
like
colored snowflakes….
In the city the gargoyles stand guard sitting on the tops
of old buildings worry not about the cold winds
worry not about the seasons changing
each sandstone grain a memory keeper
of the steps that have passed beneath their watch
