Paintbrush Editions 01 – 05

Rather than listing my name for the meditative creations … I am interested in what you see in it? What does it say to you? How does it make you feel?

    :)Laurie
    We enjoyed these.

  3. aloha Becca – I like watercolor a lot. I like the way you think in these. to answer your questions … I like my initial quick response to these. maybe my answers are in the titles that come to me as I watch them:

    1 sunrise over sea
2 teacup tablecloth as I paint
    3 scatterings in the wind
    4 bubbles in my glass
    5 energy aura

these all give out a good feeling to me along with and intertwined with these personal title feelings. fun. aloha

  4. Raven says:

    Quite lovely.

  5. #1 A journey through the flowing water from sunrise through sunset
#2 Spring flowers in a cleansing rain
#3 Colorful flutterbys in a field of daisies – yes, flutter-bys
#4 Bright balloons released into a summer sky filled white, fluffy clouds, carrying messages of love & joy
#5 The promise of a rainbow, the beauty of unified diversity

  6. unsungpoet says:

This is what comes to mind as my eyes absorb these soothing watercolors:
#1: Psychdelic sunset on the sea
    #2: A fish party!
    #3: Songbirds
    #4 A childhood birthday clown
    #5 Ancient rainbow

  7. Loved your Art Very colourful… Keep painting its great to express what is in your heart on canvas and paper.. I too paint, and find it a great comfort and release and took it up again as therapy many years ago now…. After Life seemed to close in on me… .. Many Blessings sent your way Becca

  8. Marissa says:

I enjoyed reading through your site. The art and poems are bright and very warm-toned. Such a nice, tranquil site! Blessings, Marissa

  9. Oh, this was fun… Here’s how I approached this: I wrote quickly, without thinking about it, just letting words flow in a reaction, rather than an assessment or critique. When words stopped coming and my mind began to dig or to try and reason what was happening, I stopped.

#1 – Look, Mommy! I can swim! – Days that began with a knowing – adventure waited with the sun – before I knew life was mortal – the same feeling I get when I look at an empty picnic basket waiting to be filled.

#2 – Weeding the broken bits; seeking natural order

#3 – Spilled tea on beans in a glorious, carefree experiment!

#4 – Humanity shining amidst the dust

    #5 – Silk

#2 Delicate patterns on a summer dress for Sunday Picnic pleasure
#3 Party Balloons and Confetti, a celebrated day, another year older
#4 A close-up view, deep inside an ice-cube, in Life-Saver flavor’s to fill the punch bowl
#5 Pastel colored napkins, compliment the party atmosphere of #3 & #4 above

    WoW…..Poetry in Pastels!

    • Becca Givens says:

Gary – thank you for the honor of a return visit, and the interpretation of each piece. I like your views of each! I am glad, I chose not to put titles on each work … this is more fun to see/hear personal translations! Appreciate your attention ~

      • Gary says:

I tried hard not to view other interpretations because I did not want them to influence my own perceptions.

Your paintings do speak for themselves, it just takes a viewer a few moments to listen and hear what they say.
For me personally, your paintings are a wonderful avenue that allows me to express my own feelings and imagination.
And you are right, this is fun…..a real pleasure!

  11. Brenda Goodwin says:

Becca, first let me say you just never cease to amaze me! I love art of any form and your paintings are absolutely beautiful. #1. I see a georgeous sunset past the ocean waves. #2. I feel the Horses prancing and running in a field of flowers. #3. I can hear hearts, smiles, and joy throughout. #4. Very playful like colors of a childs heart and mind. #5. All the beauty of a rainbow after a warm spring rain.
I love them all, it’s hard to pick a favorite but I guess i would have to say the horses caught my eyes with the free spirit of their running.
    Thankyou Becca!

    • Becca Givens says:

Brenda – what a delightful surprise … thank you for visiting my nook and leaving such a generous comment. I love what you see in my work … it is amazing to hear what the piece “says” to each observer! Thank you for taking the time to peruse my work and sharing with me. big hug xoxoxo

  12. John says:

“When I [you] hear/feel its done,” I can clearly identify becca. Their is an intuitiveness to art, poetry, photography, a contemplative spirit, that leads us down the path of creativity. “To be creative, is to be close to God,” and I do not remember the author to that verse but have deeply embraced it with all my heart.

Your work is quite lovely, expressing the hidden depths from within the freedom of your own soul; I like very much.

Please, stay creative and ride that wave as long as you possibly can. You are quite talented – – John

  13. mary foxen says:

#2 – feels familiar, comfortable, it is a part of me

  14. jennirey says:

    # 3 brought a smile to my face, erratic bubbles of color and slashes of gold.. ..in no random order.. loved it..

  15. I like the 4th one. Nice colors!

  16. I love how your inner emotions just explode in brilliant colors on the canvas!! Beautiful artwork!

    • Becca Givens says:

Thank you Paulo … these are the very first pieces of any type of painting I have attempted. They are numbered in order of completion. They are watercolors … my first brush strokes began in July 2010. Appreciate you taking the time to view and comment. I appreciate it. ~becca~

  17. Alix Moore says:

    You’re welcome, but
I didn’t choose the words for that true compliment–Spirit did. I guess Spirit recognizes Spirit, always! Keep on painting the light!
    Alix

  18. Alix Moore says:

    Becca,
In your art I see a woman who is so in tune with Spirit that God paints with her brush.
    Namaste,
    Alix

    • Becca Givens says:

Alix, what an ultimate compliment! THANK YOU!!

These are the first paintings of any kind … I never picked up a paintbrush until July 2010. But I was hearing from everywhere, and out of nowhere, you need to have a creative outlet!
When I paint … from start to finish … my brushes and Spirit are leading the way … in general, there are no agendas for them … the exception was #19 which was painted in Pat’s honor … but even then, I didn’t know the end result. When I hear/feel “it’s done!” – then I put down the brushes! Thank you again ~~~ Namaste, becca
