My heart soars with the thought of you
Time stands still and memories clear
Impart my feelings to explore
My heart soars with the thought of you
“Third time a charm” for your breakthrough
Once down the aisle for me, dear
My heart soars with the thought of you
Time stands still and memories clear

“A triolet is a one stanza poem of eight lines. Its rhyme scheme is ABaAabAB and often all lines are in iambic tetrameter: the first, fourth and seventh lines are identical, as are the second and final lines, thereby making the initial and final couplets identical as well.
The form stems from medieval French poetry – the earliest written examples are from the late 13th century.” ~~ Wikipedia

This is my first attempt at the poetry form: Triolet.
8 lines, 8 syllables each,
The 1st, 4th and 7th lines are the same, as are the 2nd and 8th

great job, becca! i’ve been wanting to attempt a triolet but never quite understood it when described the way Wikipedia days “iambic tetrameter” etc. your explanation makes sense to me, so thank you. beyond that, it is a truly lovely and love-filled poem. ♥

I looked past “iambic tetrameter” and continued investigating until I found an explanation in ” simple english” … I would not want to do triolets solely, but it was interesting to attempt … 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to read!
