  • Greek Mythology: Any of the nine daughters of Zeus, king of the gods, and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory; each of whom presided over a different art or science. The nine sister goddesses are Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania.
  • A guiding spirit; a source of inspiration

  11. I love this one, Becca. I’m not strong in mythology and hadn’t heard of or don’t remember the references to the muses that you shared. Makes me want to read more.

      I took a Greek mythology course in college and LOVED it … I had forgotten about this one – so it was interesting to read. If you google Nine Muses – there is a wealth of info to delve into … the dictionary, online, does well also.
