Hi, Great post. The old adage If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything still applies. As a child we played a game called telephone. One person whispered something in a persons ear. I believe it could be anything. Just like the picture it went from one person to another. As it was going around people would be saying HUH! WHAT! YOUR KIDDING! etc. As you can imagine by time it got to the last person it was completely twisted. Finally when the person who started it told what it was we were amazed. Every so often when my family gets together we reminisce playing telephone.

  5. Ah – gossip is so wrong! The initial message is always lost – so it’s best to cut out the middle people and just speak to the person you believe said something…from the horse’s mouth and all.

Great post – think I’m gonna join this challenge too 😀

Becca, I just love your blog!! Such great photos and your haiku are always great. I love the “gossip” one–it does totally amaze me how a simple statement can become so changed from the original and totally “wrong”. Great haiku and pic. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie 🙂

  7. LOL, yeah, by the time it reaches the last person, the whole meaning might be twisted; far from what it was meant to be at first..

One of the most succinct descriptions of gossip I’ve seen! So devastating – to all.

So very true. Some things never change, do they? Or should I say the way gossip changes in the telling and the retelling remains the same!

Yes – I remember an experiment involving starting a sentence and passing it on to the next and the next … the last person stated what she heard … rarely was it the same! In some instances funny, but in most cases, not!
