  1. I thought I’d be happy once the heavy heat was behind us, but the slight chill in the air at night makes me a little sad that summer is drawing to a close. Well done 🙂

  2. I like this, and so true this year. The sunflowers looked so sad.

  3. Mike says:

    A great haiku.
We could do with some of your heat – our English Summer has been a bit damp and chilly.

  4. Great Haiku of what is hapening this summer.
Didn’t you want to get a tan ????
    Mmmm … guess not that severe. ~~~~ : – )
    Toodles, Izzy

I so feel for you, Becca, and don’t know how you manage. I don’t do well in heat anymore, although I grew up in So CA. I’ve been in the NW too many years and if we get too much heat I think I will simply melt. Hang in There! 🙂

  7. The sunflowers in the picture match the sad little guys across the walkway from our apartment. Very effective “weary” haiku, Becca, matching season to temperature. So true! Here’s mine, plus a 3WW extra. Thanks so much! Amy

  8. This makes me sweat! I can feel the sticky humid air! This has been one hot summer! perfectly described!

  9. Heaven says:

  10. Nanka says:

This is so sad and strangely our Indian summers have been a bit more tolerable.

  11. Amanda Moore says:

sad but true everyone is having heat trouble and now I hear talk of an Indian Summer…. sigh

  12. Reminds me of when I grew up in Phoenix, AZ. Great imagery.

Being from South Louisiana – I am use to much more rain!! I remember stories of frying an egg on the sidewalks in AZ … this summer we probably could do it here in TX as well!
