Love and Sorrow … Felt by All God’s Creatures

A touching story of love and sorrow felt by God’s creatures!

______________________________________________

A female swallow, after suffering a hit by a car as she swooped too low across the road, awaits her mate.

Her male mate arrives at her side with food and attends her with love and compassion.

He brings her food again, but finds her lying still.

With all his might, he tried moving her lifeless body to awaken her – an effort rarely seen in swallows.

Aware his mate was dead and would never come back to him again, he cried out with anguish and adoring love

… He stood beside her, saddened of her death, finally aware his mate would never return.

Millions of people were touched after seeing these photos in America, Europe, Australia, and even India.  The photographer sold these pictures for a nominal fee to the most famous newspaper in France.  All copies of that edition sold out on the day these pictures were published.

And many people think animals and birds don’t have brains or feelings.
You have just witnessed love and sorrow felt by God’s creatures.

I remember seeing this story at least a couple of years ago (2009). I was touched then and again today. An email received today, prompted me to search for the origin of the story and copies of the original photos. These have the credit stamped on the photographs.

I also discovered the birds in this story are swallows.

Brought tears to my eyes, Becca. I had not seen these and it is so true about loss. I had to put down my oldest cat last year and my other cat mourned a very long time at his passing.

Thanks Becca! I didn’t see it the first time. But what I see now is what I would have wanted we humans to emulate.
