The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) “strongly recommends reading to children every day, starting after they are first born,” because “reading stimulates the development of the brain, language and a closer emotional relationship with a child.”
Children love the sound of their parent’s voice … start reading to them as an infant. The freedom of knowing how to read and enjoying reading is immeasurable to a child’s life.

A lovely idea for a poem. Let us hope that the book remains in physical form for years to come. Enough of these kindles.

Love this, Becca! I absolutely adore books and should not go into book stores…which of course I always do…because I buy way too much and am constantly in the throes of one book or the other. My mother use to read three at one time and knew exactly where she was in each one. 🙂

I had my mother for a teacher in grade two. It was a one-room class with grades one to nine. She would read Classics to all of us right after lunch, one chapter per day. My sibs and I died of embarrassment because she would act out the characters.
Now? I would adore being able to watch her on video.
Lucky kids now…they’ll have videos galore!
