Sunday Trees – 12

Magnolia Plantation
near Houma, Louisiana USA

Returning from a weekend “home” in South Louisiana, I could not resist stopping along the way to snap a few shots of my favorite trees — the majestic oaks and the cypress.  More of these photos will be featured in upcoming episodes of Sunday Trees.

Sunday Trees – 11 grace the spacious grounds of this plantation.  One blogging friend dubbed them “Trinity wearing their prayer shawls”.

Our wedding reception (in the form of an Afternoon High Tea) was held at Magnolia Plantation nearly 21 years ago.  Revisiting was a trip down memory lane.

Once again, I owe you so much for helping me relive some of my own cherished visits to lovely live oaks and cyresses on spacious, soft lawns at these types of Southern “mansions.” There are so many of these old homes available for weddings and receptions in the Deep South, thank goodness. So pleased you had such a lovely visit.

  3. I just want to sit on that screened porch with those magnolias trees
blowing a sweet scent towards me and have afternoon tea.
And – on a hot summer, day invite my ladies from the garden club
for mint julips. Oh – I’ve got to get my large brimmed hat out.
Love these, Becca. I feel like I have been tranported into a
    “Gone with the Wind” novel.

This is going to be at the top of my Sunday Trees favorites for a long while…
with “Trinity wearing their prayer shawls”. a favorite description of trees.

I now want to see the beautiful tress of S. Louisiana for myself…your photos are treasures.

    Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Siggi … I have to admit, it is one of my favorites as well. Stark difference from the many shots of trees I have from Sedona … these exhibit lushness from rain, and the ones in Arizona obviously grow in more parched conditions. The hanging moss frame and caress the branches well. Thank you ~~

  7. What a beautiful memory you have shared with us all Here Becca… Have a wonderful Sunday x
