A lovely Haiku Becca.
I particularly liked the idea of ‘illusion of warmth’. We can get a little over excited when we see the sun!

Since I have had these daffodil bonnets waving at me beside my front walk since mid-January, I know only too well they are only an illusion of warmth. Actually, they are triggered in their blooming by the change in the number of daylight minutes, did you know? I love their headgear, don’t you?

No daffodils in this part of the world, yet – I think they’re late this year. Or maybe they’ve been too early in the past, heralding a false spring that lapses back into mean, cold days, disrupting the natural cycle of growth. So I’m content to wait for the appearance of these cheerful harbingers of spring!

I love the illusion of warmth. I always think daffodils come too early! I have a photo of daffodils you might like http://www.flickr.com/photos/cloakedmonk/4449411008/ . I retouched it because it had a butterfly garden decoration. I took away the stem of the decoration so it looks like the daffodils are chasing the butterfly. Sort of. 🙂

I just viewed them … it is a great shot … the daffodils are on the “heels” of the butterfly!! Nice job! Thank you for sharing with me. 🙂
