Small Stone – Bridge

Small Stone

Small Stone

In the midst of long quiet hours
Remnants of past memories
Bridge with today’s realities
Creating a natural journey
Knitting together reconciliation and healing
Lone geese honks in the velvet night

What are small stones?

A small stone is a short piece of writing (any style) that precisely captures a fully-engaged moment for you. The process of discovering small stones is as significant as the finished creation. Searching for small stones encourages you to keep your senses on the “alive and alert” status. Involve yourself with a new set of eyes, ears, nose, mouth, fingers, feelings and mind. In short … OPEN, OPEN, OPEN!

So glad to see you are still doing the ‘Small Stones’ Becca. You have quite a knack for it now. Everyone of them a gem of its’ own. I find that I can only focus on doing a little at a time so had to stop them for awhile but hope to get back to them later. I am not a very ‘high energy’ person so it is hard to do as much as I would like.

Ahh, thank you, Renee … I often get too busy, and then stop, and remind myself to be mindful. I didn’t realize it had been so long since writing one.

I like doing them because I use more free verse form. I realize I could use a specific form, but this is less taxing yet more meaningful to me … even if it does not make sense to another.

I appreciate your feedback. It is helpful. Have a great week. 😀

I enjoyed the sounds of the geese in the nighttime this week. I was in the North East of the US and the temperatures were cool enough for me to sleep with the windows open … heavenly! I missed the full moon, but was able to enjoy the geese instead. During the day, I watched “new to me” birds gathering items to build a nest.

This is just beautiful. Past and present – and us, winging between the two. Well done, you!
