Beautiful haiku and beautiful memories! It always was a Skippy peanut butter jar with holes punched in the lid, with a little grass to make the lightning bugs feel at home. I’d catch them, then put the jar on the window sill and watch it as I fell asleep. In the morning, the lightning bugs would be gone – mom always told me the fairies came and let them go during the night. I suspect I know that fairy’s name.

And then there’s this, from Mark Twain: “The difference between the right word and the almost-right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug”.

They are such a delight … sad we do not have as many of them as when we were younger … I love the idea from your mom 🙂 … wonderful memories indeed! Fireflies vs lightning bugs … definitely lightning bugs! Is that a Southern term? 😀

Thank you for your visits ~~ Happy Sunday!!
