Dedicated to a sweet being with fur

As many of you know, I have a weakness for animals – specifically pups and kittens (no matter their age or size, they remain pups and kittens to me).   Now, I understand there are those who do not understand humans’ attachment to animals.  Nonetheless, there are those of us who are deemed caretakers or guardians.  We accept the role with determination to do what we think is best for our charges, irregardless of our emotional input or consequences.  That being said … in the long run, I am not sure who gains the greater benefit of this relationship, the rescue or the rescuer.

The past 12 – 18 months have been a rough year for me in both the animal and human world.  Several very special friends have traveled their final spiritual journey; purposeful roles in life complete; wisdom and joy imparted.  Each sudden departure impacting me in a manner I least expected;  leaving an inheritance rich with many valuable lessons.   Others await their turn.

Once again, I wrestle with these valuable lessons and unexpected emotions.

A year ago, a sweet and tender photo was taken in the mid-west turning the world of a quiet man and a gentle being into a journey the world watched with awe, love and attachment.   Although, I did not meet him in the physical aspect, I connected with him in the intuitive realm, where pure essence of one’s being resides without ego.   Sadly, yesterday, he crossed over the “Rainbow Bridge“.   This is a sacred time for his human guardian as he begins coping to life without this bundle of joyful fur.  As caretakers/guardians/”parents”, grief of losing a pet is as real as losing a human; sometimes, more astounding as we are accustom to the pet’s ever-constant presence and energy.  This vacuum is understood by a select few; resulting in more private and/or silent rituals of grief.  Only time assists in processing and adjusting to this transition.

I know without doubt, this handsome loving fellow was personally greeted by my most recent travelers, Tippy, Miss Magnolia and Ya-Ya!

…  “Sweet one”, a candle is lit for your journey.

These losses do take time. I wonder if they know how we feel about our loss of them?

Animals always do their dying with such dignity and acceptance. They teach us how to do it and they are mourned nonetheless.

As they too blend over the ether. You have my heart. And I send out thoughts across the water and acroaa the rainbow bridge that peace and joy is now restored.
