Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Nearly every weekday, a precious 88 year old nun visits with my mom as well as brings her Holy Communion. When I am here taking care of my mom, Sister Anna makes sure she has enough Hosts, so I have the opportunity to share Communion with my mom. After distributing Communion, Sister Anna recites this prayer with us. It is during this recent visit with my mom … I really “heard” the message of this prayer! What a Divine Blessing and Message for me!

One of my favorite prayers … right next to Meister Eckhart, “If the only prayer you ever say is ‘Thank You’, that will suffice.”
