This is written in the form of Elfje … an Elfje is a Dutch form consisting of 11 words spread over 5 lines!

The Elfje form originated in The Netherlands.  It is a form used to teach young children to write poetry.  The word Elfje means ‘Elven’ or ‘Fairy’ poem (from ‘Elf’ meaning ‘elven’ or ’fairy’ and the suffix ‘- je’ meaning ‘little’ ).

For more information on the form or how to write an Elfje, please visit:  Simply Elfje.
