Bamboo Flute

Kristjaan Panneman, host of Carpe Diem, challenges us with the third Carpe Diem Special of this month titled “One note of the Shakuhachi”.  This month the featured haiku-poet is Soen Nakagawa.  Nakagawa was Taiwanese-born Japanese rōshi and Zen Buddhist master in the Rinzai tradition. … “The goal of this special is to write a new haiku in the same sense, tone and spirit as the one given of the featured haiku-poet.

Soen Nakagawa’s Inspiration

One note of the shakuhachi
resounds endlessly
piercing the winter clouds

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Through bamboo flute
Haunting melody drifts
Koi sway in silence
