Prison Dreaming

Carpe Diem Special Challenge:
Compose an all new haiku in the same spirit as Tomas Tranströmer’s “mother of stone” with a touch of romance

Night—a twelve-wheeler
goes by making the dreams of
the inmates shiver

The boy drinks his milk
and sleeps cozy in his cell,
a mother of stone

~~~~~~~~~~~
Chains jangle
Throughout prison cells
Free to dream
Yearn to love
Metal stalls echo
Notching time
