What is Nurturing Thursday, you ask?
In this amazingly competitive society of ours, how many of us truly feel good about ourselves? How often do we extend to ourselves … the same courtesies, considerations, nurturing, forgiveness and understanding we would a loved one, a friend, or even a stranger?
Our culture tells us we need to be special and above average to feel good about ourselves. Yet, it is not possible for all of us to be above average at the same time. Don’t we usually know of someone richer, more attractive, “more together” or successful than we are? Even if we discount the material aspects and consider the more spiritual facet, don’t we know of those who seem more at peace, more aware or living in the moment. Even when we do manage to feel a strong sense of self-esteem or self-confidence, we are not able to consistently hold on to it. For most, our sense of self-worth bounces around like a ping-pong ball, rising and falling strongly tied with our latest success or failure.
In an effort to eliminate labeling ourselves as “good” or “bad”, and clearly accept ourselves with an open heart … to treat ourselves with the same kindness, caring, and compassion we would show to a good friend … I would like to incorporate more self-compassion and self-kindness in my life.
To “give this planet a much needed shot of fun, support and positive energy” … I am dubbing Thursdays as Nurturing Thursday.
If any of my readers are interested in joining the nurturing, I applaud and welcome you to do so … the more the merrier!!

I like what ypriori said about improving.
I think we all repeat repeat repeat. My goal is to repeat but at higher and higher levels of awareness so with each spiraling over old territory I do it with more compassion, wisdom and grace.
Sometimes I slide down the spiral back to a lower level but at least I am aware and make a correction. Ain’t easy.

For sure, it isn’t easy!! I agree with more compassion, wisdom and grace!! I pray for these on a regular basis — especially if it is something I cannot do anything about or something totally out of my control!! Thank you! 😀
I have certainly found this to be so true, Becca! In the past painful ‘repeats’ have led me to accept difficult truths, layer by layer, so I am grateful for them. But the time has come to apply the lessons learnt and I too am working on ‘No Repeats’! 🙂
Here is my contribution for this week: http://taoofscrumble.com/2015/1/15
Yes, either in real life or in thoughts and dreams (sometimes, all of the above), any issues that haven’t been dealt with are sure to show up again! I have been working on repairs too, but I know that I have more to do whenever I catch myself brooding about things in the past.
Yes… Naturally, perhaps…http://lauriesnotes.com/2015/01/15/naturally-me/

Nice thought..my entry…
These words resonante so much truth. We can’t go forward if we don’t repair the pains we feel.
p.s. Happy New Year 2015 … blessings and peace !!!

I like the thought of no repeating (even though that old rhyme is in my head now… pete and repeat were on a boat – pete fell off and…) – anyhow, I like the repair note too – cos it really is about improving… 🙂
