I agree with all of the above, this bark is beautiful. It’s amazing all the many stages and parts of trees. No two are a like and there are so many photos to take.

What kind of tree is this? The bark is so interesting. I love it. I love everything about trees, but the bark is something that catches my eye.

I’m not sure what type of tree. It was standing in the Japanese Gardens. The bark immediately caught my eye.

It might be a katsura. I also portrayed a katsura today, but mainly for the heart-shaped leaves. What do you think? http://anglogermantranslations.com/2016/09/18/sunday-trees-253-kusper-knusper-knaeuschen/

I wonder why my reply awaits moderation? Normally my comments show up at once. Is anything wrong?

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason why some comments go into pending. I do not have it set up that way. But have no worries, I go through and approve, once I have a notification. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Occasionally, even my most frequent commenters get thrown in. 🙂

I will go back into my files to see if I took a photo of the leaves, and compare.

I do not see the leaves clearly in the photo I have of the full tree. However, they do not seem heart shaped.

What a lovely pattern the bark has taken on that tree. Great texture. I hope you don’t mind my adding my favorite tree to your challenge. http://wp.me/p7wyWs-WP

I am thoroughly enjoying these challenges and getting to know my fellow bloggers. Thanks in advance for allowing me to join the community. Here’s my entry for this challenge. I like to use my own photography as illustrations for my short stories when I can. This tree was an inspiration for one of my stories.

Amazing photo. Makes me want to run my hands over the rough bark. Here is my entry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNHqJ936DgA

So what does this political video got to do with trees?

Thank you for the comment on the bark. I love its designs as well.
I do not think this is an entry for Sunday Trees — unless you linked the incorrect one.

What fabulous texture. I’ve not seen bark like this before — or perhaps I’ve not paid sufficient attention!

Isn’t it?!!! I fell in love with it — I didn’t even take an adequate photo of the full tree. I will have to go back to revisit the rest of the tree! 😀 Have a great week! I don’t know where the rain and the cooler weather petered out — but it did not make it to us! 😦

None for us, either. We’re still going to have summer for a while!
