Sunday Trees – 6th Year (312)

Today marks the 6th Anniversary of
Sunday Trees

___________

Once upon a time, Sunday Trees was a challenge on another person’s blog; I was introduced to it by another blogger.  I did not expect my participation to last beyond the trees I had on file.  As what happens frequently in the blogging world – the other two put aside blogging. By then, Sunday Trees on “On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea” morphed into a featured post – standing alone from the original short-lived “challenge”.

As with most challenges lingering in the back of my mind, and with camera in hand – I started noticing “special trees” … one tree at a time.  To me, special trees are the ones unique in stature,  the ones which submit a unique perspective or character, seem to tell a story, or propose a special message.  Quickly, the number of trees in my files expanded – particularly after day trips, side trips or vacations.  In the earlier years – if I wasn’t on my own – and my husband was driving – frequently I grabbed his arm and exclaimed “STOP!!!”  He would look at me like I had two-heads – and ask why.  “I want to take a photo of “that tree”!!!  He was incredulous … but to his credit – he stopped, backed-up or turned-around so I could capture the tree I wanted.

I usually rely on my “big” camera or “quick” camera; but if needed, I will use my phone (or I’ve been known to borrow a phone and the forward the photo to myself ). 😉   Nowadays, my husband and even my friends point out special trees to me.

A couple of months ago, I took a bucket-list trip to Ireland.  As we meandered among lush grounds and gardens along the coastline, I “managed” 😀 to find some magical trees tucked away in woodlands and National Forests.  The concept of dedicating the 7th year of Sunday Trees to Irish Trees emerged while happily snapping away.

Well, needless to say … even if I do not see another tree in the next few years, I have enough trees for at least 3+ (or more) years of Sunday Trees.  😀

So as we go into this next year — I will feature the trees discovered on the Emerald Isle of Ireland.

How wonderful to take a trip to a place with such beauty and the castles…I watch lots of travel shows and if there is a place that takes me to where there are castles I am enthralled. Beautiful photo Becca! I think it is delightful you should ask him to stop for you to take one. I have so enjoyed all of them. Thank You!
