I enjoyed this photo. Nature’s healing power is amazing, in so many ways!

Meg, I totally agree with you … although heartbreaking to see so many burned/charred trunks, there was much life regenerating! Without the years of undergrowth — one would not be able to hide in the woods, especially these! 😉 I shudder to think the terror involved in evacuation by human and animals, as well as the damage. However, if one wanted to buy property, it was the ideal time to fully see the layout.

Great shot. Wildfires can sometimes be seen for years.

Thanks, Cee! I agree with you — perhaps because I saw the woods in the winter without their usual “dressing”, the charring and scarring were quite evident. We experienced a severe storm while in the area; many of the trees snapped leaving trunks partially in the road. It was interesting to maneuver around them on narrow steep roads.

But what wonderful colors. The ability of the earth to recover after fire is marvelous.

Although disheartening to see the damage — it was good to see that regeneration was evident. I hope we can return in the spring or fall to see the trees dressed in full splendor!
