“The didactic cinquain is an informal cinquain. It is embraced for its expressive simplicity. There are four ways to write cinquain poems, based on words or syllables, and within that the types of words used.

Ordinarily, the first line is a one-word title, the subject of the poem; the second line is a pair of adjectives describing that title; the third line is a three word phrase that gives more information about the subject; the fourth line consists of four words describing feelings related to that subject; and the fifth line is a single word synonym or other reference for the subject from line one.”

This is my first attempt at a “didactic cinquain”. I am relieved to note the characteristics are “informal”. This provides me a gentle initiation into this new genre of poetry with less pressure.

I love cinquains! And meal of champions taps into all those memories of Wheaties commercials. Very enjoyable.

😉 … although it probably took me longer than it should … I am glad I chose cinquain for this prompt.
I agree with you regarding “meal of champions” … it does evoke memories … I can still hear and see those commercials from years gone by!

This was my first try … a bit exasperating at the time … nonetheless, I may persue the style further! There are several descriptions of the varieties. Good luck if you try … but with your quick wit at limericks … it should be a breeze for you! 😉
