Moss draped plantation
Our journey through life begins
Harp strings serenade
Magnolia Plantation
near Houma, Louisiana USA
Returning from a weekend “home” in South Louisiana during the winter, I could not resist stopping along the way to snap a few shots of a sentimental place. It remains as serene as I remember. The majestic oaks draped in moss still frame the plantation. In the stillness of the day, I heard echoes of the harp permeating the air.
Our wedding reception (in the form of an Afternoon High Tea) was held at Magnolia Plantation 21 years ago in April. Revisiting was a trip down memory lane.

A lovely memory in a very romantic setting. I visited a couple of the plantations homes years ago, and I still smile today thinking of how beautiful they are. Thanks for your visit and comment. 🙂

For me, Houma’s the gateway to the really good times – Bayou Dularge, Dulac, Theriot, Lake De Cade. The plantations are great – but the bayous and birds are my choice. Still – what a wonderful photo and wonderful memories.

Becca, how utterly magical that wedding reception must have been. I grew up driving past these types of homes when going to visit relatives in S. Louisiana and S. Mississippi. There was actually one home like this, perfectly maintained, on grounds next to the town’s barbershop where I attended 12 grades of school and graduated in 1965. And the harp you heard was an Irish harp, I suppose? (I hear Welsh harps under hanging moss!)
