Beautiful! Great capture all the way around.
I love old places as you can see from the pattern of my comments. I used to find the old broken down places kind of sad but as I aged I want to hear the stories those walls could tell.

Even though this old Acadian is in the middle of one of the main thorough-fares of my hometown in Louisiana – it is well hidden in the modern world. One has to really look for it! I have to use landmarks to locate each time. Old places and their walls are rich with stories, gems of truth and wisdom — if only we could glean a capture of any of its legacy.

That house has certainly seen happier days, Becca. Lovely photo for the challenge.

Certainly makes me think of living a different life to what I am currently living. I love the way you have brought the colours out in your photo.

This Becca is lovely. As I think about nostalgia and I am terribly nostalgic – I just wonder if the thoughts AND feelings of nostalgic times cannot be used in such a manner as to be healing.

I used to live about a mile (taking the train tracks) from the historic park dedicated to the expulsion of the Acadians, and Longfellow’s fictional poem — Evangeline. Robby Robertson wrote a great song about the expulsion. http://youtu.be/te7KW4K-00E takes you (sorry — there is an advertisement). There is another great version where he an other actors are the backdrop. Since I can’t find that particular video done for a visual history of Canada, here is the url for a Canadian short animation that is quite funny. http://www.nfb.ca/film/log_drivers_waltz/#temp-share-panel.

Thank you for the links … one day I will make a trek to that area so I can see more of the history of our people and more of the beautiful country of Canada. 😀 Happy Weekend

I know this house! When I saw it before, I snagged it and have been using it as my desktop – it keeps me happy while I’m waiting to head east on I-10!

It is an old Acadian in Houma along West Park Avenue … so much has built up around it, often it goes unnoticed. I hope it remains there – it would be nice if it was restored, but it’s probably in much disrepair.
