For many here in Texas — these type of cedar are called “trash trees” and often cut down. However, the fields are filled with them … some are singles, and others are grouped in bunches. I think I know which ones you are referring to as well. Have a good week.

I was trying to capture a “new to me” wildflower — I was parked on the side of the highway and could hear the cars/trucks approaching — but dared not stay too long or wander too far from my car. However, when I returned, I noticed the longhorns — this one was the closes to me. I intend to return to capture more of them. The longhorns are quite a sight to see. I also wanted to capture the relatively green field before the onslaught of high temperatures and no rain scorch the fields with drought!

Wise not to get too close .. But I loved your capture.. and I hope you manage to get rain without floods that would replenish the moisture needed to keep green.. I know you have such extremes of Highs and Lows in Temperatures… May it find balance..

Oh Joss, I was happy to get the contrast — give the area a few more weeks with high temperatures and little-to-no rain and it will all look burnt crisp tan of drought! For now, the steer are tickled with their green grass and weeds. 😀 Have a wonderful week!
