This reminds me of a well worn and sun baked sailors net. I have a photo at WOWH in my album/photos that looks like an Elephants eye.

I couldn’t leave a comment but awesome photo!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Each tree is unique in its patterns. The texture on this one is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
The texture and pattern were amazing to experience.
I almost feel as though I can place my fingertips in each groove on this amazing tree trunk!
They are deep enough to do just that, granbee!! Incredible texture and pattern.
Cottonwood tree?
You know — honestly, I do not remember. It was taken either in the vicinity of Santa Fe, NM or Sedona, AZ!!
Now I remember — it is a tree near the river at the Sanctuario de Chimayo in Chimayo, New Mexico.
Good chance then it is a cottonwood. I just returned from northern New Mexico and will be writing about those trees soon
Wow, it looks ancient!
Tree bark can be so interesting. Looks like a huge tree. Mickie
I love the designs in tree bark — I have posted a few on Sunday Trees and have a few in queue! Thank you for your feedback. It is a huge tree.
Nice texture…looks like nature made its mark on this tree.
Peace,
