“Down the Bayou” – photographs and festivals

I am in South Louisiana (which is “home” for me). Early this morning, my sister-in-law stopped by to collect my mom and me for an early morning of driving “down the bayou” … further towards the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way I took photos of the shrimp boats in various stages of service … then onto a sculpture garden (which I will feature soon), and then to one of the local town festivals. Every weekend, South Louisianians celebrate some type of fair or festival. Hundreds of photos later, we returned home tired but satisfied with our activities of the earlier part of the day.

Part of my childhood was spent on the Gulf of Mexico. I still remember the shrimp boats and fishing!

Were you at Chauvin? At Kenny Hill’s place? I’ve got that in my queue, too! If that’s where you were, let me ask – do you know what ever happened to him? Did they ever find out? The last I heard, he just sort of walked away and that was it…. Strange.

YES, that was the original destination. It is awesome. No one seems to know what happened to him. According to my s-i-l, he just up and left one day — very mysterious. After looking at his sculptures — I figure his “mission” was complete. I plan to do some investigation on him when I get a chance. After spending a good amount of time there, we drove to Lockport for their town festival.

By the way – have you seen “Beasts of the Southern Wild”? If you have, what was your opinion? Just saw it and still am pondering….

No I haven’t seen the movie yet … waiting for the Waco library to get it.

I am preparing for a Tour Bus Trip with my mom. We leave on Monday. Heading to Savannah and Macon — won’t get back to TX til the 26th … so my photos will have to wait. I forgot my camera cord and software for camera. By then, I will have more photos to use.
