Darkness and depth of despair
Arrested with hope
Rising above all else
Know my soul, Divine one
Now you have my heart
Every touch helps withstand all
Silence is a brief reflection
Song gives rise, even in winter
Over and over
Forever and ever
With leap of faith, wings spread
Increments of dreams released
Now my journey continues
Truth for me to acknowledge
Every miracle and lesson significant
Reaching and speaking from within

Using “Darkness of Winter”, this is my first attempt in writing an Acrostic Poem — a series of lines or verses in which the first, last, or other particular letters when taken in order spell out a word, phrase, or message.

Poetry Picnic Week 16: My Life in Free Verse
AND
Each week Carry On Tuesday will publish either a famous quotation or a line from a book, song or poem and invite you to Carry On where words stop. You may use some of the words or all of them either at the start of your piece or within the body of your work.
“There’s a chill in the air. This week I’ve found a seasonal poem by Edward Kofi Louis – it’s called Dark Winter Blues. The first line starts with the following words:
The darkness of winter…..
Use them as part of your poem or story …”
Well written! Is this your art? Beautiful piece that goes well with your words.

Sorry but I didn’t like it. Maybe because everyone elses attempts have been so depressing to read I am finding it even more depressing and that is depressive enough!

Ahh, Whitesnake … thank you for your visit. I understand how difficult it can be to read several depressive pieces in a row. Although, this was not written to be depressive, I appreciate your feedback!! Maybe tomorrow, it may sound different to you – If not, that’s OK!! Have a great week!

Ah, the line Know my soul, Divine One. That is indeed the turning point from melancholy to joyous song. This is a nicely composed acrostic.

I’ve done a couple of those Acrostics–they’re fun and challenging. Yours is beautiful, Becca– very soulful…and the picture of the lone cardinal on a wintry tree branch adds to it wonderfully.

Ahh, Donna, it is nice to “see you” … I cannot take credit for this watercolor. I have the source of it noted with “image credit” … it did seem to fit well. My style is more abstract.
