Twinkle of Appreciation
in
day-lily bed

Over the past month … I have been working in the yard … taking full advantage of the cooperating Texas weather. As if I am unable to proceed without supervision or guarding, 😀 I have the companionship of our two outside cats, Jazzy and YaYa.
When it gets “a bit” too bright, or warm, Jazzy, one of my guardians, seeks the coolness and hidden spots in the Day-lily bed. She logistically places herself in a spot that keeps me within her vision.
When I take a break, she is more than willing to step out of the lusciousness of the day-lily leaves and provide a belly or head for scratching!

Same here for my Miss Fluffy! Only her spot is within the tall green leaves of the irises in my large round flower bed in the backyard–never mind there are new seedlings now planted all around the outside, next to the stone border! It amazes me how these felines are so very certain of our love and attention, no matter what!

Funny, granbee, Jazzy visits across the street, frequently … not knowing her name, the children started calling her Fluffy! Amazing how animals know to answer to different names!! 😀 I wish I could have some Louisiana Irises — but I believe we are way too hot and dry … the day-lily bed is comprised of transplanted day-lilies from home — out of my dad’s backyard! I have a marker commemorating my dad’s life on the edge of the bed. The day-lilies and the mock-orange are the only Louisiana transplanted items that I still have — the rest did not make the winters, much less the summers. 😦

I’d love to have a pet. They don’t allow them where I live.

Aren’t these little fur balls great company? That’s very sweet, Becca. I’m thrilled that my black beastie has been hunting voraciously for my cat-sitting friend. He loves her house, shows immediate understanding that he’s in temporary digs and hunts continuously. Secretly, I think he looks forward to my going away.
